Owen Diviney launched his first solo CD "Endless Time" on Thursday the 2nd of December in the purple lounge of the Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry, Galway at 8pm.
Owen, a native of Mervue, Galway, Ireland moved to Athenry in 1998. Since joining the community he has been involved in successfully coaching underage football, Athenry Musical Society and supported many local events such as Athenry Cancer Care and Senior Citizens events. Owen is currently a very active member of the Athenry folk choir and plays Racquetball with Newcastle/Athenry. He was part of the club team which won two all Ireland racquetball titles in recent years.

Prior to moving to Athenry Owen was a very successful international rower. He is the holder of 5 all Ireland Rowing championships, 3 Home International championships and won the Russian National & Scottish National championships in 1995. He also won the Head of the Charles in Boston in 1994 in single sculls (biggest one day rowing festival in the world). In 1989 he came 10th at the Junior World rowing championships in Szeged, Hungary.
On qualifying as an accountant Owen worked in Hewlett Packard for over 12 years. He is currently employed in Cold Move in Oranmore.

He took up guitar at the age of 30 under the guidance of Harry Monson and worked with Harry over a two year period. Nine years after taking up the guitar, Owen released his first solo CD. Other local artists in the production include Harry Monson, Colga Coye, Brenda Curtin, Pat Naughton, Maeve Kilkelly and Aine OConnor. The CD was recorded in Eugene Kellys studio in Bearna and also includes Eugene Kelly, Tom Cussen, Gerry McNamara & Lorraine Godfrey.
Last October Owen was a guest speaker at an Oranmore Jobs creation initiative and spoke on the topic of Turning the light on and creating hope in a recession. He took inspiration from the people and decided to pursue the recording of his CD. It aims to remind us of the great people we are and that working hard together is the key to emerging from this current economic crisis. Throughout our history our resilient race has proven itself worthy to face a great variety of challenges, which united they with stood and subsequently flourished.
